Where your words go.
Every answer has a path. Here’s exactly what happens after you hit stop, and who decides.
The path
- You answerOut loud or typed, as a young person, parent, neighbor, or local business.
- We match itYour answer lands with everyone who said something like it.
- The board reviewsThe Youth Board reads every answer and finds where voices agree.
- The briefOne brief per campaign, published here and signed by the board.
- DeliveredWe send it to the decision makers and post what they say back.
Campaigns, not everything everywhere
YouthVoice runs a few targeted campaigns at a time. Each one has a focused question, a clear set of decision makers, and a brief at the end. The board picks campaigns where young people have something real to say and someone can actually say yes. See current campaigns.
The Youth Board decides
The board is youth-run. It chooses the campaigns, reads every answer, decides what goes in each brief, votes to publish, and signs every brief. Nobody outside the board edits a brief. The board runs on published bylaws.
What makes it into a brief
- Three perspectives. A finding needs agreement from at least three kinds of people.
- Word for word. Quotes are trimmed, never reworded.
- No names. Quotes show a perspective and an age, nothing that could identify someone.
- Disagreement included. If people see it differently, the brief says so.
Who gets our briefs
Decision makers across business, transportation, safety, recreation, and youth programs: local businesses, business groups, youth and community centers, nonprofits, and service clubs across Garden Grove, Cypress, Long Beach, Hawaiian Gardens, Fountain Valley, Rossmoor, Seal Beach, and nearby.
What we can and can’t promise
We promise to read every answer, publish fairly, and report back, even when the answer is no. We can’t promise anyone will say yes. That’s their call. What we can do is make sure they hear from a lot of people, clearly.
